Yikes, I haven't posted for seven weeks. Been driving around the country working. I met a cameraman in Derry who claims to have worked on this Doctor Who title sequence in 1963. He says they spent a day pointing cameras at tv screens to get the right distortion. I see no reason not to believe him. The music is the most groundbreaking thing about it, though. Composed by Ron Grainer, but brought to life by Delia Derbyshire, using banks of reel-to-reel tape machines. This different piece illustrates her method;
