And so begins one of my favourite songs. So many good memories of listening to this tune. It was 1993, I was learning the guitar, big into Pavement, had just discovered GBV..great music seemed to be everywhere. It felt like a baby band in every town was capable of writing at least one classic tune. This song, by North Carolina natives Archers of Loaf is a perfect example - it sounds like something Bob Pollard and Steve Malkmus conjured up over a drunken game of scrabble.
My friend Rank Krobix of the fantastic Rank Krobix and Sons has had the start of this song as his ringtone for years, and every time I hear it I can do nothing but laugh and sing along.
